Well as was expected none of the West side guys made it, I guess it was just too far for them.
Just like last time there was lots of sand everywhere, I hate sand. Two of the guys in the group had new rigs there. They both had mechanical problems as did a few of the other sand buggies, seems to be a common theme with them. The quads only needed a chain and sprocket on one so not too bad. Looks like sand machines are very high maintenance so any one who thinks the pinzies need lots of love should get one of these things. That being said it would be tough to beat those buggies in the sand. Very fun and very fast and efficient in the dunes but a bugger to get out when something goes wrong.
Tim provided pinzgauer entertainment for them by laying his truck on its side just about 5 minutes into the first ride. He had a couple of close calls in a few other places but wised up and stopped until help could be rendered. After his adventures we decided to leave our trucks in camp and catch rides with the buggies, I can see where they could be fun but very limiting.
